Silk screening with podosiri

Suzanne en I used the ink we made from podosiri to silk screen. We made T-shirts featuring an image of a bag of podosiri, along with the words ‘The Struggle is Real’. The T-shirts were part of our performance at the exhibitions, and could also be purchased by visitors.
After extracting the pigment from the podosiri, in addition to etching ink, I also used it to create silk screening ink

For the opening, Suzanne and I wore the podosiri shirts ourselves, because we were part of a performance. The evening was designed as an overall experience, during which food, clothing, and art were all part of the same story
When we lived in Suriname, Suzanne and I often bought our podosiri at roadside market stalls. For our exhibition, we created our own market stall, where we sold our merchandise
